E.M. BRONER AND NAOMI NIMROD: THE WRITING OF THE WOMEN'S HAGGADAH
The day after The Haifa Seder, Naomi Nimrod called Esther Broner. They decided to write their own service.
Despite their work schedules and family demands, they met daily.
They worked in the study of Naomi Nimrod's late father, a learned cantor. They "expected thunder and lightning to come through the roof and crack the walls of the library."
Esther Broner writes of their challenge: "...we were uncomfortable with the information we were excavating about the extent of the ancient misogyny.
We were uncomfortable with each decision: What to retain and what to restate? How to keep bitterness and anger from overwhelming us? Where to place the traditional stories and yet insert new characters?"
